Search for photography styles you like

To start the wedding photographer search, I recommend you start by scrolling through Pinterest, Instagram, or do a good old fashioned google search for wedding photos you like. Look at things such as the colors and tones in the photos. Do you like warm, cool or true to color tones in editing? Do you want more candid or posed images? Do you like a more artsy style or traditional? What is your vibe as a couple? If you like taking photos, you may lean more towards a editorial style photographer. If you care a lot about having moments captured, you may lean more towards a documentary style photographer. All of these should be factors in deciding on a wedding photographer.

Can your photographer provide a full gallery?

If you can't find one on their site, ask for a full gallery to view from a wedding day to make sure you like the way they capture a wedding day.

Wedding photographers must have a contract

If your photographer doesn't have a contract for you to sign, RUN! This is so important. Please, do not book a photographer and pay thousands of dollars to someone who is not contractually obligated to provide the service you are paying them to provide! Not only does this mark an unprofessional photographer, it is also risky for you! What if they just don't show up on your wedding day? Then you are out a ton of money with no way to legally get it back.

Does your photographer have reviews?

Do they have review, not just on their website. While those are great, do they have a google business page and are real people leaving them reviews? This is something big to lookout for in the legitimacy of your photographer.

Is the service they are providing within your budget and worth your money?

This is a paragraph. Click edit and enter your own text. You can make changes like making the text bold, underline or italic. This is a great place for you to tell your clients more about your story and to describe the type of photographer you are. You can come back at any time to make more changes.

Schedule a consult call!

You are spending a large portion of your day with your photographer, so if you don't like the person as a person, thats gonna show in your photos.

Also, it is nice to put a face or voice with the person you likely have never met.

I hope all these tips help you select a wedding photographer. I know it is such a tedious process, but hopefully this gives you a good starting point.
